Dear Gallery, I'm an emerging artist...
It's a work of denunciation of the contemporary art market in Italy, dominated by mainstream galleries, curators, and "addicted" public relations.
And the artist?
The visual photography project was born from a visit to the Francesca Woodman exhibition last summer in Vienna. Francesca used to send postcards to her friends and acquaintances inviting them to her solo exhibition at the Maldoror bookstore in Rome in the 1970s. I send the same postcards to major Italian galleries to get a response, or RSVP, that never arrives.
