BOND
My mother passed away at the end of 2017.
I found the strength to face the loss and in 2020, giving the pain a personal interpretation through the self-portrait.
When someone dear to you dies, you have to choose whether to keep something of her or let it go completely. As a daughter, I kept the clothes. Everyone has a smell. When you decide to wear those clothes, you take the people with you together with the burden of pain or joy.
Like animals, for which the sense of smell is of fundamental importance in mutual recognition, I found myself smelling her clothes and marking the territory of my future, wearing them and taking them with me on my journey, from the processing of mourning to the projection towards my future and that of my family.
